Cann Bridge School, a progressive special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with severe learning difficulties, is seeking an exceptional EYFS Leader to join our dedicated team. As the EYFS Leader, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop a high-quality, inclusive EYFS curriculum tailored to the unique needs of each child. Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document.
  • Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards.
  • Lead by example through exceptional teaching and leadership.
  • Take lead responsibility for the EYFS to secure:
    • The development and implementation of the EYFS curriculum.
    • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of EYFS provision.
    • Managing a team of EYFS staff, providing guidance and professional development.
    • Fostering a supportive, creative, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
    • Planning and delivering high-quality, adaptive lessons to learners with severe learning difficulties.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or equivalent, with recent EYFS training.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading EYFS settings and/or special education.
  • A passion for working with children with SEND.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and support a team.

As a Class Teacher, you will deliver high-quality education and create personalised lesson plans tailored to each learner’s unique needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, manage class-based support staff, and integrate educational goals with necessary therapeutic interventions to help learners achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of the curriculum across the school. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to learners with severe learning difficulties.
  • Create and implement Personalised Learning Goals (IEPs) for each learner in your class.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and professionals to design and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and techniques to engage and motivate learners with different learning needs.
  • Provide regular feedback to parents and carers on the progress of their child.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies consistently in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all school policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Manage a dedicated team of teaching assistants.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS).
  • Knowledge of a range of teaching strategies and techniques for learners with special educational needs.
  • Experience in creating and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.

New Year New Opportunity- From Jan 2025

Job Title: Teaching Assistants (Grade C)
Contract: Permanent term time (39 weeks per year)
Hours: 29.25 hrs per week. Mon 9.15 am – 4.00 pm, Tues-Friday 9.15 am to 3.30 pm
Actual Pay: £15,909-£16,447 (£23,500-£24,294 FTE)

Also required: Meal Time Assistants Grade B, 1.5 hours per day 11.45 am -1.15 pm Mon- Fri
Approximately £12 per hour term time (Job description available on request)

We have an exciting opportunity for Teaching Assistants and Meal Time Assistants to join Cann Bridge, a special school for learners aged 4-19 with severe learning difficulties. Our school values reflect being aspirational, learner-focused, collaborative & progressive.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with special educational needs, both inside & outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include implementing individual education plans (IEPs) & personalised learning strategies, collaborating with teachers & professionals, assisting with personal care tasks & helping learners develop social & emotional skills.

Cann Bridge School is seeking candidates who are eager to develop the skills & knowledge necessary to become excellent Teaching Assistants. An appropriate Level 2 qualification is desirable, we also welcome candidates who are willing to work towards this qualification within their probationary period. Supply Bank Staff

Are you seeking flexible employment that fits around your life and commitments? At Cann Bridge School, we understand the need for flexibility and are proud to offer a unique opportunity through our Teaching Assistant Supply Bank.

Our Supply Bank offers you the chance to be employed on a casual basis, allowing you to balance work with other responsibilities. With no formal contract and no required weekly hours, you can choose when to work. The only expectation is that you contribute at least one day every three months—keeping you connected and engaged with our school community.

This role is perfect for those looking to gain paid experience while working towards a formal Teaching and Learning qualification. In fact, many of our current full-time staff began their journey with us as part of the Supply Bank.

As a Supply Bank member, you’ll have the chance to participate in INSET Days (Professional Development Days), after-school training sessions, and complete Positive Behaviour Support training. You’ll be expected to meet the same standards as our Grade C Teaching Assistants, ensuring you play a vital role in supporting our students.

Supply Bank staff are paid at Grade C, with payments made a full calendar month in arrears. As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all staff are required to undergo an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Volunteering Opportunities

At Cann Bridge School we are looking for two governors to join our governing body. As a governor you will be a volunteer who makes a vital contribution to the success of the school.
Cann Bridge School are looking to recruit two members onto our dynamic Board of Governors. Ideally, one individual would have experience within finance or health and safety, although this is not essential. One individual would need to support the interests of the Local Authority in their role as governor, and the other as a Co-opted Governor.

The Board of Governors have a healthy working relationship with the Headteacher who welcomes challenge and scrutiny of the school’s work, and they offer strategic support for the direction of the school.

They are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of children within the school and has strategic vision. Being involved in a unique setting for children with special needs, the individual can expect to find the role extremely rewarding.
