⭐ Celebrating Our ‘We Cann…’ Learner of the Year Winners, Our Leavers and Staff Awards! ⭐ We apologise for the slight delay to the end of the school day today… there was simply too much to celebrate! 💚 Our ‘We Cann…’ mantra, alongside our vision and values, is at the heart of everything we do at Cann Bridge School. Every day, our learners and staff demonstrate what it means to be Aspirational, Learner Focused, Collaborative and Progressive, and today’s special end-of-term assembly was an opportunity to recognise those who truly embody these values. Alongside celebrating our ‘We Cann…’ Learner of the Year Award winners, we also presented our special end of term awards and trophies, recognising learners whose achievements, commitment and personal growth have been truly exceptional. 🏆 Proper Job Cup: Pa Ousman 🏆 Lydia Hayward Trophy for Commitment & Dedication: Maisey 🏆 Bee Coelho Award for Excellence in Work Related Learning: Joshua 🏆 Laura Henshaw Arts Award: Jenson K Each of these awards reflects the values and aspirations that make our school community so special. Congratulations to all of our deserving recipients—you have made us incredibly proud. We also took the opportunity to celebrate our amazing staff team. Each term, staff can leave postcards of appreciation for colleagues who have gone above and beyond. One postcard is drawn at random, with the recipient receiving a £25 gift voucher. As always, the end of the academic year brings moments of both celebration and reflection as we say goodbye to some very special learners. This year we bid farewell to six incredible learners. Ava transitioned successfully to her new school a few weeks ago, while Theo, who joined us in Year 6, moves on to his next chapter in September. We also said goodbye to two learners who have been part of the Cann Bridge family for 15 years—Steve and Blake; one learner after 7 years—Tom; and another after 1 year—Kyle. Whether they have been with us for one year or fifteen, every learner has helped shape our school community. They have each left their own unique mark on Cann Bridge, and we are immensely proud of everything they have achieved. We wish every one of them happiness, success and exciting opportunities as they begin their next chapter. Today also marked the departure of the last Downham School learner at Cann Bridge, bringing to a close the final chapter of an important part of our school’s history—truly the end of an era. To all of our award winners, leavers, families and staff—thank you for making this another unforgettable academic year. 🥐☕ A wonderful start to our final day of term and the end of another fantastic academic year! ☀️ As is tradition, we began our last day together with a staff breakfast, enjoying pastries, fresh fruit and hot drinks while taking the opportunity to catch up, reflect on the year we’ve shared and chat about our plans for the summer holidays. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated, passionate and hardworking team. Moments like these remind us just how special our school community is and how much we achieve by working together. 🌟 Leavers & Achievers Ceremony 2026 🌟 Today we came together to celebrate the achievements of our Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (Post Bridge College) students, at our annual Leavers and Achievers Ceremony. It was a wonderful occasion filled with pride as we recognised the incredible progress our young people have made. Students were presented with a range of nationally recognised qualifications, alongside Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards and Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge Awards – all reflecting their resilience, determination and commitment to achieving their goals. A particular highlight was celebrating success in travel training. Cann Bridge School had the highest number of students across the city achieving ‘red’ status this year, thanks to the dedication and support of Fi and Sarah. We were also delighted to hear how one of our former students has gone on to become an independent bus traveller, supporting his journey into employment – a powerful example of the life-changing impact of developing independence. Today was also an opportunity to say goodbye to four very special students who have reached the end of their time at Cann Bridge. Some have been part of our school community for 15 years since the age of three, others joined us later in their journey, but each and every one has made a unique contribution to our school and will leave a lasting legacy. While we will miss our leavers greatly, we are excited to see what the future holds for them and wish them every success in their next steps. A huge thank you to Jennie for coordinating the event and presenting the awards and speeches; although not without a few happy tears along the way! It is truly a privilege to play a part in our pupils' formative years, supporting them to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for adulthood.
