At Cann Bridge School, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our pupils and staff. We have a fundamental duty of care to protect them from harm and abuse, with safeguarding practices centered on the child's best interests, welfare, and safety.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and every member of our school community plays a vital role. All staff, volunteers, and governors receive annual training to ensure they are alert to any signs of abuse or neglect. They are committed to following the clear reporting procedures set out in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Our Safeguarding Team, which are Level 3 trained in managing safeguarding concerns, is dedicated to providing training, support, and guidance. They work closely with a range of external agencies to ensure the ongoing safety and welfare of our pupils. When necessary, information will be shared with relevant agencies about a child’s welfare, but we will always communicate our concerns with the child's parents or carers first—unless doing so would jeopardise the child's safety.

We regularly review and update our safeguarding policies and procedures to align with the latest guidelines from the Department for Education, the Plymouth Safeguarding Children Partnership, and Keeping Children Safe in Education. This ongoing review process ensures that our approach remains effective and up-to-date.

As part of our commitment to safer recruitment, we conduct thorough safeguarding checks on all staff members, as well as on external professionals—such as physiotherapists, paediatricians, and occupational therapists—who work directly with our pupils.

Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, along with other relevant documents, is available on our website for your reference.

If you have any concerns regarding the safety or well-being of anyone at Cann Bridge School, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of our Safeguarding Team at 01752 207909. We also welcome your feedback on our safeguarding policies and procedures. Your input is invaluable to us, so please feel free to contact a member of the Safeguarding Team with any suggestions or concerns.
