I was privileged to become a Co-opted Governor at Cann Bridge School in June 2020, having had links with the school, here and on its previous site, for twenty five years.
In my working life I have served the school as a teacher, and ultimately as a deputy head until I left the role in 2016. The school has a “We Cann” attitude for our pupils which I believe in wholeheartedly. I remain totally supportive of the school and following retirement, worked on a part time basis as the school fundraiser for three years. I hope that the experience I have had in the past may be useful to the school.
I have a particular interest in the curriculum and how it can be used to support the development of the young people in our care from 3-19 and beyond into adult life.
I am the link governor for reviewing the over-arching curriculum and Early Years. I am the link Governor to the “Communication, Language and Literacy” curriculum team at Cann Bridge which oversees literacy, reading, writing, phonics and communication and interaction. It is my role to make sure that all information is given to the Governors having met with the curriculum team leader, knowing that statutory requirements are being met and are evidenced in delivery, policies and documentation.
